以下、エヌダッシュの3つの用法を詳しく見てみます。 複合語にハイフンではなくenダッシュを使うことがある 「ハイフンの用法」で複合語を作る時に単語と単語の間にハイフンを置くことを説明しましたが、ハイフンではなくenダッシュを使う場合があります。 2つの単語が対等の関係にある時はハイフンとenダッシュのどちらでもよい post-Napoleonic Europeのハイフンをenダッシュにしてはいけませんが、love-hate relationshipの場合は、ハイフンをenダッシュに変えてlove–hate relationshipとしてかまいません。post-NapoleonicにおいてはpostがNapoleonicを一方的に修飾しているのに対し、loveとhateは一方が片方を修飾せずに対等の関係にあります。2つの単語が対等関係にある場合はハイフンで繋げても、enダッシュで繋げてもどち
