以前教えていた子が英語の定期テストで満点を獲得した話をさせていただきます。 この子は、中学から英語を始めたので、最初はアルファベットも怪しいレベルでした。それが一年半くらいでクラスでも数少ない満点を取ったのですから快挙と言っていいと思います。 あえて、近年軽視される文法からアプローチ 最初はかなり苦労しました。というのも、 昔の教科書ではＢｅ動詞の現在形をやって、代名詞の格変化から一般動詞の現在形に…といった文法メインの作りになっていたのに、最近はまず、Ｂｅ動詞と一般動詞が混じった文章をいきなり教えるというやり方を取っているからです。 一年の一学期は、ホントに単語と英文を丸暗記させるだけという、僕から見るとかなり乱暴な教え方でした。 本人と話し合い、文法を交えながら教科書を読み解き、英単語を覚える方法に変えたわけですが、やっぱりそこは初学者だけあって、本人にも中々辛抱も多かったと思います。
