東日本大震災で注目されたツイッターなどのＳＮＳ情報。災害時には大きく注目されるだけに、誤情報のリスクを減らす研究がここ最近、加速している。 東日本大震災の発生から４時間足らずで立ち上がったサイト「ｓｉｎｓａｉ．ｉｎｆｏ」は、有志がＳＮＳの情報を集め、「いま」「どこで」「何が求められているか」が一目でわかる地図を作った。救助の要請や安否情報など約１８０万件の情報を集め、その後の救援活動につなげた。これは、地図上で被害状況を共有する「クライシスマッピング」という手法だ。海外では、２０１０年のハイチ地震や１５年のネパール地震などでも活用された。 ただ、ＳＮＳは情報の真偽の判断が難しいケースがある。東日本大震災でも、コスモ石油千葉製油所（千葉県市原市）の火災について「有害物質を含んだ雨が降る」とする出所不明のチェーンメールなどがネット上で出回り、コスモ石油は「そのような事実はありません」と否定のコ
