シンプル＝バッドシグナル説 知人と話していて、シンプルという言葉は手抜きの言い訳として使われることがあまりに多いので、シンプル＝バッドシグナル（バッドな兆候）なのではないか、という話になりました。 シンプルが言い訳としてよく使われるのは以下のような場面です。 必要な機能が足りていない デザインがださい そこらじゅう手を抜いている プログラミングにおいてよくあるのが、まじめに実装していないクラスに Simple なんとかという名前をつけるパターンです。自らシンプルと名乗っているものには疑ってかかったほうがいいのかもしれません。 以上、シンプルな考察でした。

2007年01月15日23:46 John Maeda / The Lows of Simplicity カテゴリ本IT 前田ジョンの「The Laws of Simplicity 」を読む。このまずテーマ設定が面白い。「シンプルであるとはどういうことか？」「シンプルであるためにはどうすべきか？」というのが全体の問題設定で、このSimplicityというテーマにこうも真正面に切り込むのは珍しい。「シンプル」について語ろうとするとだいたいもっとイデオロギー的な論調になりがちで、過度にミニマリスト風な「Less is More」とか「機能が形をつくるんです」といった結論が先に立ってしまうことが多いのだが、この本の場合はそもそもシンプルであるとどういいの？というあたりからはじまっている。そしてシンプルを達成するために９つの法則(らしきもの)を提案している。 この本にあるように、テクノロジーの進む
